Eugene G. Ureel

EUGENE GEORGE UREEL age 76 of Lenox Township died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in
Fair Acres Nursing Care Facility in Armada after an extended illness. Mr. Ureel was born July 28, 1934 in Detroit to the late George and Viola (Abbeg) Ureel. He married Helen Flood in Mount Clemens on August 22, 1959. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gene was a self employed egg farmer and retired as a maintenance worker at the Consumers Power Company in February of 1996 after thirty-five years service. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and an active Forth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2667 in Richmond where he served as State Vocation Director, Grand Knight, District Deputy and all local offices. He was a past president of the St. Augustine School Board and served as Constable of Lenox Township from 1966 to 2004. He is survived by his wife, Helen, children; Dennis (Ann) of Harrison Twp., Richard (Gale) of Columbus, Jerry (Jennifer) of Marysville, Mark of Lenox, Michael of Richmond, Joseph (Nicole) of Marysville, Diane (Paul) Raska of Casco, Linda (Don) Gunter of Richmond and Mary Ann Boyd of Lenox, siblings; Marie (Jim) Austin of Romeo, Dolores Dumais of Romeo, Christine (Daryl) Mukrdechian of Richmond, Theresa Ureel of Chesterfield, Earl (Joan) Ureel of Harrison and Leo (Judy) Ureel of Houghton and sixteen grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Friday, December 24, 2010 in St. Augustine Catholic Church. Reverend Wayne Ureel,
Gene's nephew will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting will be on Thursday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. There will be a K of C Rosary at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
