Ernest James Matusik

Ernest James Matusik, 89, of Columbus Twp., passed at home Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Ernest was born June 22, 1928 to the late Paul and Angeline Matusik. Married Stella Rose Ettinger on November 29, 1959. He is survived by his sister Clair (Jack) Jones and many nieces and nephews. Also, his beloved second family of 24 years Eric and Betty Hamilton, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Stella Rose, brother's Edward, John, Walter and Frank Matusik and sister's Dorothy Witter-Shein, Sophie Szewczyk, Theresa Winter, Hedwig Murzin, Frances Selva and Mary Matusik. Ernest was a member of the Laborers Union Local 463 for over 50 years and the polka boosters. He enjoyed gardening, polka music, dancing and loved spending time with family and his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Holy Family Parish, 79780 Main St, Memphis, MI 48041.
Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of St. Clair County, 6177 Fred W Moore Hwy, China Township, MI 48054.
