Ella Marie Hughes

ELLA MARIE HUGHES 70 of Lenox, Michigan passed away August 20, 2014. She was born October 17, 1943 in Detroit to the late Allen Paul and Mary Margaret Melick. Marie was a fitness enthusiast and accomplished fitness instructor and worked for several gyms in Shelby and Richmond. Marie had a passion for horses and used her extraordinary equestrian skills to become Michigan Lightweight State Champion Endurance Racer from 1981 thru 1983. However, it was her vocation as a loving mother, grandmother and devoted wife for which she will be most remembered. Marie was a loyal and generous friend to all those who were blessed to have known her. Her beautiful smile and passion for life will be sorely missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-two years, Frank Hughes Jr., daughters, Ramona (Fred) Kethe, Cindy (Tony) Michaels, Melissa Hughes and son, Frank (Ruth) Hughes III, grandchildren, Crystal (Brian) Bellhorn, Racheal McVeigh, Stone McVeigh, Haley Hughes, Shayla Hughes, Jalen Hughes, Lisa Ledesma and John Vanderbossche, six great grandchildren, seven siblings and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, daughter; Lisa Marie Hughes, brother, John Melick and sister, Lucinda Melick. A 5K run/walk and memorial service will be held on October 18, 2014.
