EDWARD JOHN MARKIEWICZ age 96 of Lansing, formerly of Detroit and Argyle, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 in Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing. Mr. Markiewicz was born October 23, 1913 in Detroit, the eldest son to the late Walter and Anna (Nigorski) Markiewicz. He married Jane Markowski in Detroit on February 19, 1939. Mrs. Markiewicz died November 5, 1999. Ed grew up in Smiths Creek and raised his family in Detroit. He retired in 1971 after thirty-one years from Ford Motor Company. He is survived by his children, John (Marilyn) Markiewicz, Margaret (Dennis) Hart, Bernice (John) Sullivan, Elizabeth (John) Gwynn and Virginia Orabone, grandchildren, Heather Hart, Alan (Rebecca) Markiewicz, Cheryl (John) Boes, Amy Markiewicz, Jesse (Tonya) Sullivan and Joseph Cary Gwynn, great-grandchildren, Sarah Markiewicz, Jessie, Jack and Jagger Sullivan and Anthony, Vincent and Michael Boes, sisters, Cecelia Kustowski and Helen Falecki and sister-in-law, Jane Markiewicz. In addition to his wife of sixty years he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary (Henry) Zmijewski, Genevieve (Ben) Hand and Theodore Markiewicz and brothers-in-law, Alex Kustowski and Elmer Falecki. A funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:00am in All Saints Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish in Memphis, MI. Reverend Daniel O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery in Columbus Township, MI. Visiting will be Monday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:00am in the church. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 6:00pm.
