Douglas Wayne Olson

Douglas Wayne Olson, 78, of Casco, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 10, 2021 at McLaren Macomb Hospital. Doug was born in Dallas, Wisconsin on September 20, 1942 to the late Arden and Lois Olson. Loving husband of Susan Olson; caring father of Mark Olson and Melissa (Greg) Mickelson; cherished grandfather of Ryan and Noah Mickelson. Preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen Olson and brother, Larry Olson. Doug loved making memories with family, especially with his grandsons.  He enjoyed spending time with his extended family, Barbara Olson, Nancy and John Syndergaard, Anita Olson, Terry Olson and many nieces and nephews. Doug was known for being kind and loving to all.  He was a gentle soul who never had a harsh word to say. Doug was a teacher for 37 years. He had a tremendous impact on generations of students, many of whom he remained in touch with regularly.  Doug spent many winters in Florida where he enjoyed visiting Disney with his wife, Sue. Summers were often spent camping and enjoying time sitting by the campfire with friends. Doug and Sue were known to travel the world, spending time in Norway, Russia, Spain, Austria, and Germany.

Visitation will be 1:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Service Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 35110 Division Rd, Richmond, MI 48062.
