Dorothy V. Shrader

DOROTHY VICTORIA SHRADER age 89 a sixty year resident of Richmond died Thursday, August 11, 2011 in Henry Ford Macomb Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Shrader was born March 23, 1922 in Detroit to the late Edward and Mary (Keena) Lukasek. She married Chester Shrader In Detroit on August 22, 1941. Mr. Shrader died June 10, 2001. Dorothy graduated from Port Huron High School in 1941. She was a fifty-nine year member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Past President of the United Methodist Women's Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and their time spent wintering in Winter Haven, Florida. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and very excited about the birth of her first great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by her children; Renick (Barbara) Shrader of Livonia, Colette (Terry) Mackley-Dawson of St. Clair and Nancy (Marvin) Gates of Corpus Christi, TX., grandchildren; Michael(Connie) Mackley of Canton, Donald (Cindy) Mackley of North Street, Thomas (Paula) Mackley of Richmond, Jeanette McCarthy of Livonia, Theresa (Brian) Shrader-Kluba of Plymouth, Regina (Daniel) Weston of TX. and Jill Gates of TX., ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. A funeral service will be on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:30 am in the First United Methodist Church in Richmond. Reverend Thomas Keef, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be Sunday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
