Doris "Tootles" Neuman

DORIS E. NEUMAN (Tootles) age 98 of Six Lakes Country Club, North Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Washington, Michigan died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Doris was born May 16, 1913 in South Bend, IN. to the late Charles A. and Mable (Holinger) Moore. She married Edgar T. Neuman in June of 1935. Mr. Neuman died in 1980. Doris was a teacher for more than 45 years starting out in a one room school house and retiring as a long time teacher in the Washington Elementary School. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Davis, MI. where she had served as Worthy Matron. Doris loved to knit, quilt and garden up until her eye sight started to fail, but she still enjoyed reading and playing cards and bingo with her friends. In her earlier years she loved to travel with her husband and family, visiting most states and many countries. Doris also helped to run her daughter, Suzanne's bed and breakfast in Seward, Alaska up until her late 80"s. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Larry) Leto of Delton, MI. and Suzanne (Peg Loverin) Neuman of Seward, Alaska. and Fort Myers, FL., grandchildren; Tamara Beam of Delton, Theresa Leto of Kalamazoo, Susan (Rick) Blesch of Richland and
Tim (Shannon) Leto of Portage, great-grandchildren; Anthony (Estera) Leto of Littleton, CO., Alex Beam of Washington, IN. Elizabeth Beam of Littleton, CO., Jack, Drew and Matt Blesch of Richland and Luke Leto of Portage and sisters; Cathrine Wilt of Fenton, Margie Haase of Waterford, Phyllis (George) Boyd of Lakeland, FL. and Mildred (Richard) Reinhold of Macomb. In addition to her loving husband of forty-five years, Doris was predeceased by her siblings, Bernice Kohler and Charles A. Moore Jr. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 1:00pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI. Visiting will be from noon to 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: Hope Hospice, 2470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Fl. 33908.
