Doris Johnson

DORIS M. JOHNSON age 88, a lifelong resident of Richmond died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Port Huron Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was born November 5, 1919 in Lenox Township to the late William and Ernestine (Woehlert) Kaatz. She married Gordon Johnson in Richmond on May 31, 1947. Mr. Johnson died July 31, 1997. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond where she served actively in many areas. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader who enjoyed cooking and collecting antiques. She served as an area chairperson for Muscular Dystrophy. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1937 and attended business college. She is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Johnson of Yale, Rhonda Johnson and Patrick Herron of Port Huron and Michelle and John Baker of Richmond, sisters, Betty Schichtel of Traverse City and Irma Liebzeit of West Branch, grandchildren, Dorianne Caswell, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Hayly, Alyssa and Emily Johnson and step-grandchildren, Tyler and Kamile Herron. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Johnson on January 19, 2002 and siblings, Norman Kaatz, Viola Mceachin and Arla Brady. A graveside funeral service will be April 10, 2008 at 1pm at Richmond Cemetery. Chaplain Dwight Murphy of Heartland Hospice will officiate.
