DONALD "DOC" SCHEUER age 81 of Casco Township died Monday, May 12, 2014 in his home after an extended illness. Doc was born July 5, 1932 in Detroit to the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Warnitz) Scheuer. He married Patricia Kammer in Richmond on June 9, 1951. Doc retired in 1994 as a maintenance representative for the Macomb County Facilities and Operations for ten years. Through the years he worked at Twin Pines Creamery, Enterprise Tool and Gear, Ray Weeks Slaughter House and Custom Drywall. He was a member of Carpenter's Local #687 for fifty years. In 1956 he moved his growing family to Casco Township where he became active in Township politics. He was a member of the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, Board of Review and was the building inspector for many years. Doc was elected Constable in 1990 and served until his retirement in 2010. He was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond where he was a member of the ushers club and the K of C Council #2667. Doc enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and hunting but his favorite was spending time with his children and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Scheuer of NC, Sharon (Michael) Bickley of China Twp, Gerald (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, VA, Charles (Kimberly) of Casco, and Mary Ann of Roseville, sisters; Marie Whiter of Clinton Twp and Theresa (Duane) Zurek of Washington Twp, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Scott Schafer and brother, Leonard Scheuer. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 16, 20124 at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be on Thursday, May 15th from 1:00pm to 8:00pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Friday from 9:00am to 10:00am in the church. A Firemen walk-through and a K of C rosary will be Thursday at 6:45pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Blue Water Hospice or the wishes of the family.
