Diane M. Helzer

DIANE MARIE HELZER age 70 of Richmond Township died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in McLaren Macomb Hospital. Mrs. Helzer was born December 6, 1942 in Lenox Township to the late Charles and Vada (Verbeke) Wansedel. She married Byron Helzer in Armada on October 1, 1960. Mr. Helzer died June 21, 1999. Diane graduated from Richmond High School and was a member of the Richmond Seniors Club. In honor of her grandson, Kylan Saunders, Diane was the parade coordinator and drove the Gift of Life float in seventeen parades each summer for the past eight years. She enjoyed reading, watching old movies and traveling. She is survived by her children; Byron Helzer of Algonac, Brenda Smith of Memphis, Deanna (Daniel) Klama of Lambs, Beth (Jeff) Kain of Richmond and Dana (Adam) Saunders of Richmond, sister; Marcia Wansedel-Stowers of St. Joseph, and sister-in-law; Nancy Wansedel of Macomb, sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother Charles Wansedel on January 9, 1997, grandson; Kylan Saunders on May 29, 2004 and granddaughter; Christina Kimmel on September 7, 2012. A funeral Mass will be on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00am in Holy Family Parish, All Saints Catholic Church in Memphis. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Armada. Visiting will be on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
