Derik Davenport
September 14, 1977 — January 11, 2007
Derik J. Davenport, 29 of Memphis formerly of Ruby went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 11, 2007. He was born September 14, 1977 in Port Huron to Michael and Merline (Wilkinson) Davenport of Ruby. He graduated from Yale high school in 1996 where he excelled as an athlete and will be remembered as an excellent baseball player who earned many awards and honors. On June 2, 2001 Pastor Gerhardt Doroh married Derik to the love of his life Kelly Treend in Memphis. He was a self employed home builder and talented carpenter. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Richmond and was a volunteer firefighter with the City of Memphis. Derik coached Memphis high school baseball and was an umpire and coach for Memphis little league. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, camping and spending time with friends. Derik was a loving husband and very devoted daddy to his children who meant the world to him. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Aspen "Charley" and Hudson Davenport, brothers Brett (Brandi) Davenport of Virginia and Michael Davenport of Ruby, parents-in-law Terry and Susan Treend of Memphis, grandparents Frank and Barbara Davenport of Windsor, ON, sister-in-law Debbie (Larry) Cottington of Marysville, aunt Karen Davenport of Mt. Clemens, nieces Angela Maas and Chelsey Gallagher, nephew Ryan Gallagher, and very special friends Richard Gallagher, Justin Diaz, and Steve Barr. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9, Monday from 2 to 9, and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. A funeral service will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Rewalt Funeral Home with a procession to St. Peters Lutheran church. Reverends Gerhardt Doroh and Randy Lett will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
