CHARLES SAM THOMAS age 96 of Casco Township died Sunday September 8, 2013. Mr. Thomas was born January 5, 1917 in Winona, MI to the late Peter and Lucy (Rebrovich) Thomas. He married Adela Mars in Detroit on April 29, 1944. Mr. Thomas was a machine repairman for Leer Ziegler American Molds in Detroit for thirty-five years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and a World War II Veteran of the United States Army. Charlie was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed working on race cars, gardening and bird hunting. He was a #1 fan of the
Richmond Blue Devil's and never missed a sporting event of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Adela, children; Jamie and Shirley Thomas of Boon, Donna and Eric Green of Casco and Gail Thomas of Tucsan, AZ, five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be on Thursday, September, 12, 2013 at 10:00am in St. Augustine church. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor of All Saints Parish, St. Augustine Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:00am in the church. A scripture rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:00p. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to: St. Jude Hospital, Blue Water Hospice or the wishes of the family.
