CHARLES RUSANDA SHAW age 96 of Lenox Township died Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Shaw was born August 17, 1914 in Detroit to the late Vasa and Magdalena Rusanda. He was adopted and raised by Leonard and Harriettt (Kratcher) Shaw. Charles married Sally Jock in St. Clair Shores on May 3, 1947. Sally died on June 18, 1996. Mr. Shaw graduated from Highland Park High School in 1932 and from Wicker Fine School of Arts in Detroit where he received may awards. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was stationed at Hickam AFB I Honolulu, HI. During the Pearl Harbor Attack. He retired in 1966 as an officer of special investigations at SANG Base in Harrison Twp., MI. After retirement he started his own investigation business, Charles R. Shaw Associates, which did special contract work for the U.S.Government. He retired from this at age 80. Among his accomplishments, Mr. Shaw is know for painting the large crucifix that still stands at the Pearl Harbor Memorial and also painted the "Ladies" on the sides of the aircraft. He is survived by his children, Janice Shaw and Patrick Shaw both of Lenox, step-children, Ruth (Stanley) Czenkus of Belivedere, Lillian Genna of Mount Clemens sister Mary Ann Shaw (Alex Laufer) of Chicago, special friends, Cynthia and Megen Johnson of Lenox, grandchildren, Lisa Keding, Kelly Czenkus, Kim Jansens, Pamela Shorkey, Dave "Butch" Czenkus, Ronald Maisono and Rochelle Olson, 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Keding on May 27, 1985. A funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Lisa Bousson will officiate. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Cemetery in Clinton Twp. under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force Color Guard. Visiting will be Monday from 4 to 8pm and Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:30am.
