Cecilia Matusik

CECILIA MATUSIK age 87 of Monroe, Michigan formerly of Richmond died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 in Medilodge of Monroe after an extended illness. Mrs. Matusik was born October 29, 1920 in Detroit to the late Adam and Jozefa (Salach) Balinski. She married Frank Matusik in Columbus Township, Michigan in August of 1944. Mr. Matusik died December 13, 2002. Cecilia was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Columbus, where she served on the altar sodality. She was also a member of the Richmond Seniors and PIME Missionaries and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and reading. She is survived by her children, Peter and Charlene Matusik of Traverse City, Robert and Carla Matusik of Monroe and JoAnn Spong, siblings, John Balinski of Centerline and Eleanor Wronski of Wales Township, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Theodore Balinski, Mary Neych and Cassie Balinski. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10:30 am in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Browne will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday from 6 to 8 and Friday from 3 to 8 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:30 in the church. A rosary service will be said Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the PIME Missionaries.
