Carol Zmich-Stringer

CAROL R. STRINGER 74 of Columbus Township died Thursday, October 1, 2009 in the Woodland Hospice Home in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Mrs. Stringer was born September 19, 1935 in Bad Axe, MI. to the late Solomon and Florence (Muentener) Beck. She married Harold Zmich at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Chesterfield Township on January 31, 1959. Mr. Zmich died July 20, 1983. She married Hugh Stringer on Mackinaw Island on November 28, 1986. Mr. Stringer died in 2001. Carol graduated from Bad Axe High School and earned her teaching degree from Central College in Mt. Pleasant. She retired in 1992 after teaching in the Richmond elementary schools for twenty-six years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, doing stained glass, painting, knitting and going to the casinos. She is survived by her children, Steven and Jean Zmich of Oakland Township, Daniel and Rebecca Zmich of Alma and Lisa and Joseph Cullen of Remus, step-children, Sandy Zeller and Maynard Stringer both of Florida, her sister, Margaret Cooper of New Lothrup and grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kevin, Andrea, Brittany, Chelsea and Sam. A funeral Mass will be said on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 1:00pm in St. Augustine Church. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor of Holy Family Parish in Memphis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be Sunday from 6 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Monday from 12:30 to 1:00pm in the church.
