Betty J. Rehahn

BETTY JANE REHAHN age 88 a longtime resident of Richmond died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Leisure Manor Assisted Living Home in Richmond. Mrs. Rehahn was born October 14, 1924 in Sagola Township, Michigan to the late Charles and Clara (DuFresne Price. She graduated in 1942 from Iron Mountain High School and married Frederick Rehahn in Falls Church, VA. Mr. Rehahn died on April 26, 1988. Betty enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp on October 26, 1944 and served until July 17, 1946. She was a member of the Women's Marine League, the American Legion Post in Memphis, MI. and the East Detroit Garden Club. Betty worked as a seasonal employee of the U.S. Postal Service and at the Peoples Bank in East Detroit. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and was an avid U of M football fan and joke teller. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; William and Lynn Rehahn of St. Clair Shores, son-in-law; Steve Pierce of Richmond, sisters; Mary Oliver of Troy and Dorothy (Edward) Peters of Arlington, VA, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son; James Rehahn on November 11, 1993 and daughter; Patricia Pierce on April 30, 2001 and siblings; Marion Pasten, Ben Price, James Price and June Gendron. A funeral service will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Gerhardt Doroh will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Eastpointe. Visiting will be Sunday from 3 to 8pm and Monday from 9 to 10:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for the Detroit Institute of Arts, AIDS Foundation or the Cancer Society.
