August Fistler

AUGUST W. FISTLER age 95 of Richmond, formerly of Warren and Metamora died Thursday, March 15, 2012 in McLaren-Macomb Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Fistler was born April 1, 1916 in Romeo, MI. to the late Oscar and Elizabeth (Gumbert) Fistler. He married Elvera Measel in East Detroit on November 30, 1940. Mrs. Fistler died September 8, 2008. Augie worked as a spring maker at Eaton Springs in Detroit and then retired from Warren Woods Public Schools as a custodian. He was a devout member of St. Peter's Lutheran church in Eastpointe serving as elder and usher. He enjoyed working with wood, bird watching and gardening his flowers and vegetables. He is survived by his siblings, Isabelle (John) Willing of Almont, Joyce (Robert) Hartway of Richmond and Richard (Virginia) Fistler of Armada, sisters-in-law; Katherine Fistler of Lenox Twp. and Beverly Fistler of St. Helen and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fistler was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth when he was ten years old and by his parents, Oscar in 1981 and Freida in 1990, siblings; Marvin on Feb. 9, 2010, Edward on June 12, 2011 and Norman on Feb. 25, 2012 and sister-in-law Dorothy Fistler on February 3, 1999. A funeral service will be on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:30am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend William Otten will officiate. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial East Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI. Visiting will be Sunday from 3 to 8pm and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richmond.
